The three layouts for this month's One Look have been created and our Shaker member Karen Whitney has decided on her favorite! We sent Karen the email versions of her layouts for her to review and make her choice. This is what Karen had to say about them:

Since I can only choose one, then I guess the one that I would choose to be my favorite is the first one. I really liked the look/colors of this one -- the clock, the American Cancer Society emblem, the title, the quote. I liked the print for the journaling -- reminded me of school writing, and since this was a school event, I felt it really went with it .”

"The second one was also very good. I really liked the retro look of this one -- the colors were fantastic! I was having a hard time coming up with papers to use with these photos, which is why I sent these in the first place, and I don't think I would have ever chosen that paper, but seeing it with the photos, it goes so well with them and I love it! I even want to get some to use with some other photos I have!!! I like to use inking in alot of my layouts, and this one appealed to me because of the inking done around the photos/paper."

"The third one I liked because it was very clean/simple, which is the way I tend to do most of my layouts, but I prefer to have a 2 page layout instead of a 1 page layout. I loved the colors in this one but would have liked to see the smaller individual photos separated instead of looking like one long panoramic photo. The title done on this layout was perfect -- said it so well as to what this was all about.

I would like to take this time to say how much I really appreciate the time you took to work on these layouts and to thank all three of you for doing such great jobs!!! "

As most of you already know, a couple of months ago we started a new feature called One Look/Three Ways. The idea is that you send our designers some pictures they will design a layout for you using your pictures. Each designer will create a layout for you and you will receive the layouts for viewing via email. You can pick your favorite one and that layout will be mailed to you.

You will know ahead of time which designers will be participating so that you can choose when to participate based on the styles of the designers. If you wish to participate, please let us know by November 20, 2004. This will also give us time to create the layouts before they are featured in the December newsletter. If you are interested in participating please send an email to: onelook@theshakerbox.com and include the follow information:

Name
Shaker Box User Name
Size you scrap in
Favorite colors

The Designers for November to be showcased in the December Newsletter are:

Holiday Cards/Gift Tags!

With Thanksgiving coming up soon, and Christmas following right behind, we have all had cards and gift tags on our minds.

While out shopping, I always stop by the “Christmas Department” and check out the latest and greatest. I love to look at the cards, but no matter what the price tag says, I just can't bring myself to buy cards. Why not, you ask? I'll let you in on a little secret. I love the attention I get and give when I make a card for a friend or family member. I love knowing that my card meant so much, that when they call the first thing they will say to me is “Thank you so much for the card, it was great!” They usually forget to mention the gift, which, I usually forget what I bought, but they always remember the card. They love the attention I give, when I make a card just for them.

Who could forget the gift tags? I always love packages that look hand-made, or as though they took a full day to wrap it! Take a day-just make gift tags. Go through your wrapping paper, and then go through your stash of left over papers and make tags. Stamp them, emboss them, paper peicings, eyelets, anything goes, just make as many tags as your hands will allow, and then put them in your gift wrapping box. They will make that nice gift seem spectacular!

So, get out your paper and pens and get going! You have a long list of family to make cards and tags for! And remember, it all comes from the heart!
