Each month, The Shaker Box will be hosting a Page Goal Challenge. Members are asked to set a page goal for the month. Each time a page is completed, it will be uploaded to our Shaker Gallery and then the member will post to the Page Goal thread with the link to the layout.
At the end of the month every player that meets or exceeds their page goal will be entered into a drawing for a small package of scrapbooking supplies.
The August Page Goal challenge is in full swing and you can follow the progress in our Shaker Challenge forum.
If you missed signing up for the August Challenge, keep looking for the Sept. Page Challenge to be posted near the end of August.

The winner of our July Drawing was Betty! Congratulations Betty on exceeding your layout goal for the month of July!
Here is a bit of information about Betty:.
AKA Sage on the boards, Betty has been "looking at magazines on Scrapping for ever, or at least it seems that way." She started really looking at products after her marriage 3.5 yrs ago and then actually started putting pictures on paper after her son, Reece's, birth 21 months ago.
Betty is originally from Canada where she met her husband, Jay the great enabler. They share a passion for dog competitions and soon married after a whirlwind romance. Residing in Idaho now, the happy couple have a lovely 21 month old son, Reece.
When asked about her favorite scrapbook product, Betty states, "
I love it all! I seem to use a lot of cardstock with Bazzill being my current favorite - although I just got an early anniversary present - a Sizzix machine.
Congrats Betty!

Waste Not - Want Not!
Help! I am drowning in scraps! Do you feel like this? Don't worry, everyone has felt like this at one time or another. You can either solve this problem by throwing away your scraps (which isn't very good for your budget) or you can do even better…use them! The best way to use your scraps is to do it immediately after you have finished your layout. Having the color scheme and embellishments already picked out is a huge advantage to this method. You can use them to make cards, page elements, squares and other paper projects.
In this article, you will see step by step how a 12x12 sheet of patterned paper can create two layouts and five cards. At the end of the crafting session there were only two small strips of paper left. These were thrown away without any guilt or wasteful feelings!
This was the first layout created using the patterned paper. I tore a larger piece from the right hand bottom corner and used it on this Ice Cream layout. After t he layout was completed I put all the paper scraps in a pile to use on the next project.
I created this Ducky layout next using just a wide strip of the patterned paper. Another patterned paper was incorporated into this layout and the scrap will also be used in the next few projects. I used some of the yellow cardstock from the first layout as a mat. And the green cardstock I used as an accent for the Ice Cream layout is used here for squares and another mat.
Each layout or card you create makes your scrap pile that much smaller. In no time there will be no scraps left to put away! At this point, the patterned paper I started with is getting very small so it's time to move on to a few cards. This teacher card is 4 ¼ x 5 ½ in size. The patterned paper is used almost in a reverse manner of the way it was used in the first layout. This is a very simple card to put together with patterned paper and stickers.
These last four cards were created with scraps from the first and second patterned papers and the embellishments used on the layouts.
As you can see, the possibilities are endless! So, before you throw those scraps away or pack them into another baggie, see if you can put them together to make some more wonderful projects!
Look for next month's newsletter for an article on ways to store all these wonderful cards you have been making!
