FISKARS TEXTURE PLATE & EMBOSSING TOOL REVIEW
Manufacturer: Fiskars
MSRP: $4.99-$14.99 (set up to 6)
Rating: 10
Review:
If you want to add dimension and texture to your next layout or project, then Fiskars has the right tool for you! Their plates will add that extra element of texture so many of us are looking for, without a lot of the time involved with the dry embossing technique.
The plates are extremely easy to work with as they can be used by themselves or by pegging or by pegging them to the Fiskars Embossing system for added stability. Each plate measuring 7 ½ x 5 ¾ inches, has 2 textures – one on each side and is typically sold in packs of 4 or by the new assortment pack of 12!! You can find textures such as hearts, stones, lines, waves, dots, stars, leaves, wood grain, brick, bubbles, squares and fabric. With so many diverse textures, how can you go wrong!
Instructions for Use
Using the textures plates is very user-friendly. Start by securing the plate of choice on your embossing system or by placing it on a self-healing mat which will help to “hold” the plate in place. Next, position the paper or top of the plate, patterned side down if applicable. Then simply us the specially designed Fiskars texturing tool, with its unique beaded swivel base, to imprint the texture onto the cardstock.
For best results, remember to use the tool in a circular motion and cover the page completely to get the full affect of the pattern when embossing a full sheet of paper. If the tool seems to catch the paper at any point, a good tip is to place a sheet of wax paper in between the paper and tool to help it glide and reduce friction.
Creative Uses
Other uses for the plates are to emboss various types of foils, metal sheets, etc. You can also emboss tags, photo mats or borders. For something fun and creative, I also spread some of the paper magic over a plate and let it dry. When it was done, I peeled the paper magic to reveal the wonderful texture underneath!
So, if you haven't tried the latest texture plates and embossing tool from Fiskars, what are you waiting for? Visit www.fiskars.com for more tips, techniques and project ideas.
