Featuring Shaker Member :

MICHELLE JACKNICKE !

The Shaker Box is pleased to feature Michelle Jacknicke, known as “twistedsoda” on the forums, as the February’s Spotlight Member of the Month.

At an early age Michelle started keeping a diary. Whether on scraps of paper or in a notepad, Michelle was always journaling her life. Because she was interested in different forms of art, she proceeded from journaling to photography and then, of course, into scrapbooking. What started slow and steady about five years ago soon became a fast, frenzied hobby!

Michelle has named her style of scrapping “Eclectic Eccentric!” She enjoys shabby chic, the nostalgic era, inking papers to age them, and using ribbons and color to form intriguing layouts. She never thinks that one must use what they purchase - as it looks – but rather one should make the papers, ribbons, etc look different with additional color. She lets the look she is trying to obtain lead her to a particular color scheme. At this moment her favorite colors are browns, pinks and blues. You will also find ribbons on most of her layouts – could ribbons be her signature?

There are times when she wonders what she was thinking when she did a past layout. Why did she do it that way? Why those colors? Why that style? Would she change??? NO WAY! All of her albums compile her personal feelings and journeys -- to change the layouts would be to change her life and who would want to do that?

She enjoys The Shaker Box challenges each month and takes pride in her finished product. Winter finds Michelle staying inside out of the cold - going to more crops and, at times, sitting up all night working on that one layout that she just couldn’t put down. During the summer she is often outside catching up on her picture taking, storing the photos and getting ready for the cold winter months of inside work with her layouts.

Michelle feels her biggest accomplishments have come this year when, in less than two weeks, Memory Makers called her for two layouts in one month! Meeting new friends online and in person are highlights in her life and gives her the inspiration she needs to continue. She states that The Shaker Box has a great group of ladies and she feels comfortable working with them.

When Michelle is “missing,” her wonderful, understanding husband will most likely find her in her scrap office area or heading out to meet with several “Scrap Chix” for coffee time and some gossip. Working as a manager of a restaurant/pub takes up some of her time but never so much that she can’t scrap.

Her main inspiration in her life has been her grandparents and she tries to share their story with everyone. Anyone that inspires her will at some time become a “victim” of her layouts in some shape or form.
