the reason it turned out so dark is your camera was metering for the outside. In the original was the outside in the right light and their faces were dark?
Turn them at a 45* angle at the slider, use a white foam core board as a reflector and bounce it back on the part shaddowed...
did you see my last LO? The pics I took of my dd were all in natural light with a door open. I was outside on the porch- freezing might I add lol!
