Description: I did this for Theme Challenge #1 10-13-06.

I don't have any photos of my Dad and Uncle when they were young, family had no camera, so I used this one.

Journaling:The Horse
I heard this story over & over as I was growing up. One Saturday night when my father & his older brother (he was 4 years older than Daddy) were in their mid-teens they were walking home after a night in town. They grew up in Biggers, Arkansas, population less than 200. It was about a mile or so out of town where they lived & it was dark (no electricity way back then in rural communities). As they passed a dark field a huge white object rose up next to the fence. It scared my uncle so bad that he yelled & took off running, leaving my Dad behind. When Uncle Ernest got home, he was out of breathe and trying to tell his father what happened, my Dad came in laughing. Their father asked what was so funny and Dad replied "It was only a white horse". My uncle got a whipping from his father for being a scaredy-cat and for leaving his brother alone. Dad teased Uncle Ernest about this whenever they were together.

AM, you have to remember that this was in the late 20's and rural kids were expected to walk a straight line and protect each other.
